Our Beliefs

We seek to follow Jesus Christ according to the teaching of Scripture and to pursue unity with all who belong to Him. We recognize the Bible as our final authority for faith and practice. These statements are not intended to serve as a creed, but as a summary of what we believe Scripture teaches.

  • The Bible

We believe the Bible is the Word of God. The Holy Spirit guided the human authors so that what they wrote faithfully communicated God’s truth. Scripture is true in all that it teaches and is our final authority for what we believe and how we live.

    2 Timothy 3:16-17, John 17:17, 2 Peter 1:19-21

  • God

We believe in one God, the Creator and Sustainer of all things. He has revealed Himself through creation, through Scripture, and most fully through Jesus Christ. He eternally exists in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God is holy, just, loving, powerful, and good. He created all things for His glory and created us to know Him and live in fellowship with Him.

    Deuteronomy 6:4, Psalm 19:1, Matthew 28:19, John 1:18, Romans 1:20; 11:36, Hebrews 1:1-3

  • People

We believe that people are created in the image of God and therefore have God-given worth and dignity. God loves every person and created us for fellowship with Him, yet we have chosen to disobey God and have sinned against Him. Sin separates us from God and brings death, leaving us in need of His grace, forgiveness, and salvation.

    Genesis 1:26-27, Isaiah 59:2, John 3:16, Romans 3:23; 6:23, Makes 3:9

  • Jesus Christ

We believe Jesus Christ is the only Son of God, fully divine and fully human. He lived without sin and willingly gave His life on the cross as the perfect sacrifice for our sins. He physically rose from the dead, ascended into heaven, and now reigns and intercedes for His people. He will personally and visibly return as King of kings and Lord of lords.

    John 1:1; 1:14, Philippians 2:5-11, Hebrews 4:15, 1 Corinthians 15:3-4, Acts 1:9-11, Hebrews 7:25

  • Salvation

We believe salvation is God’s gift of grace made possible through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. We cannot save ourselves or earn salvation through good works or human effort. In response to the gospel, we trust in Jesus Christ, repent of our sins, confess Him as Lord, and are baptized by immersion into Christ. As followers of Jesus, we are called to continue in faith, trusting Him and following Him throughout our lives.

    John 3:16, Acts 2:37-38, Romans 3:23-28, Romans 10:9-10, Ephesians 2:8-10, Colossians 1:23; 2:12, Titus 3:4-7

  • Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit is fully diving and is one of the three Persons of the Trinity. Through the truth of God’s Word, He convicts people of sin and points them to Jesus Christ. He brings us from spiritual death to life and dwells within us, strengthening us to overcome sin, producing spiritual fruit in us, and equipping us to serve others and build up the church. We seek to walk by the Spirit and submit to His sanctifying work in our lives.

    Matthew 28:19, John 16:7-11, Acts 2:38, Romans 8:9-14, 1 Corinthians 6:19; 12:4-7, Galatians 5:16; 5:22-25

  • The Church

We believe the Church is the body of Christ, made up of those who belong to Him. Jesus Christ is the head of His Church. As His people, we gather for the apostles’ teaching, fellowship, the Lord’s Supper, prayer, worship, encouragement, and service. Together we are called to love one another, grow as disciples, proclaim the gospel, serve our neighbors, and fulfill the Great Commission.

    Matthew 28:18-20, Acts 2:42-47, 1 Corinthians 12:12-27, Ephesians 1:22-23; 4:11-16

  • Baptism

We believe Christian baptism is immersion in water for those who believe in Jesus Christ, repent of sin, and confess Him as Lord. In baptism we are united with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection, receive God’s promised forgiveness and the gift of the Holy Spirit, and are raised with Christ to walk in newness of life. Baptism is not a work by which we earn salvation, nor does the water itself possess saving power. God alone saves by His grace through Jesus Christ; in baptism we trust Him to do what He has promised.

    Matthew 28:19, Acts 2:38; 8:36-39; 22:16; Romans 6:3-4, Galatians 3:26-27, Colossians 2:12, 1 Peter 3:21

  • The Lord’s Supper

We believe that the Lord's Supper was given by Jesus to His Church as an ongoing remembrance of His sacrifice and a proclamation of His death until He returns. Following the example of the early church, we observe the Lord’s Supper each week. As we share the bread and the cup, we remember Christ, proclaim the gospel, examine ourselves, and celebrate our unity with Him. At the Lord’s Table, each person is called to examine themselves before Christ and partake accordingly.

    Matthew 26:26-29, Acts 2:42; Acts 20:7, 1 Corinthians 10:16-17; 11:23-29

  • The Second Coming

We believe Jesus Christ will personally and visibly return as King, Savior, and Judge. The dead will be raised, and all people will stand before God in judgment. Those who belong to Christ will receive eternal life, while those who are not in Christ will face eternal judgment. God will ultimately make all things new. Sin, suffering, and death will be no more, and God’s people will live forever in His presence in the new heavens and new earth.

    Matthew 25:46, John 5:28-29, Acts 1:11, 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18, 2 Peter 3:10-13, Revelation 20:11-15; 21:1-5; 21:27
